Today is the day we will be attending two birthday parties for three little girls. I decided to make Kika (Maile’s one year old sister) a ladybug shirt and ruffle-butt bloomers. I got the bloomer pattern from this tutorial on Dana’s Made website and added the ruffles. So Dana is pretty much my new idol. Here’s how Kika’s outfit turned out, with special thanks to Penny for being such a gracious model.
The pattern for the top is McCalls 5610 with bias tape trim. Ok, so I think I’m in love with bias tape.
We have another little girl in our lives turning four, so I decided to also make her an oliver+s tea time dress. I got the idea to add the monogram from Dana (again, my new idol) and I really like how it turned out. Natalee is one of three girls and the middle child so I thought she might especially appreciate the monogram.
So after battling the ruffle diaper covers, I unilaterally decided that Maile would be potty trained and therefore would not need them. She got a monogram added to her dress instead.
This morning I realized that I did not have anything to package these gifts in and decided to stop at Target to buy bags and some tissue paper. I left my money at home.
Instead of going back, I made these instead. It ended up that I liked these bags better anyway.
Now that the girls are all taken care of, I think I would like to make something for myself. We have no air conditioning in the house, so I’m thinking…sleeveless???
